What is a chemical peel?

It is a procedure for the face and body that uses a chemical solution to exfoliate the upper layers of the skin. The procedure can be performed at a very superficial, superficial, medium or deep skin depth dependent upon the condition being treated and the client's skin type profile.

Younger u Aesthetics advocate the use of Skinmed Enerpeels because of their effectiveness and flexibility in treating across all skin types from very fair to very dark skin.

The Enerpeels are designed to be less confrontational to skin while still achieving the desired treatment outcome. They work by using a patented carrier solution which stops the ingredients reacting with the skin structures or water in the skin until it is below the surface and then the ingredients, both acids and treatment ingredients are released to work in the skin not on the skin. This reduces surface side effects considerably meaning less peeling, more controlled frosting and less reddening and erythema. Your skin will feel smoother and softer after the first treatment and will gradually improve as new skin cells form.

Skin peels are an extremely effective way to treat lines and wrinkles as well as acne scarring, pigmentation and sun-damaged skin.

Glycolic Peel – A refreshing anti-ageing treatment with minimal downtime. This peel penetrates the top layer of your skin and encourages the natural exfoliation process; leaving you with fresher, younger looking skin; minimising fine lines and wrinkles, age spots and sun damaged skin.

Mandelic Peel – Perfect for those prone to redness due to its antibacterial properties; this peel encourages cell-turnover, helping to reveal a clearer complexion. You’ll have smoother skin after just one treatment.

Jessner Peel – This peel works on a variety of imperfections including fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, sun damage, acne and uneven skin tone.

Pyruvic peel - This skin peel is commonly used to treat a variety of skin issues, including reduction of fine lines, hyperpigmentation and oily skin. It is also useful in treating those patients who have acne but are sensitive to salicylic acid containing products, as it will reduce the oil production and exfoliate dead skin cell build up that contributes to blocked pores and the incumbent spot formation.

Salicylic Peel - This skin peel is specifically designed for acne sufferers. Its oil production reducing effect, along with two other active ingredients – triethyl citrate and ethyl linoleate – have been shown to reduce the four main visible signs of acne. This skin peel is particularly effective during the inflammatory phase of acne that is characterised by papules and pustules.

Neck Peel – This skin peel is particularly indicated for the delicate and hyper-reactive areas of the neck, chest and décolleté to improve age-related imperfections. This peel contains pyruvic and lactic acid which helps increase skin volume and enhances elasticity of the neck skin and helps to reduce the formation of pigmentation.

Hand Peel – We all know that the backs of the hands can age prematurely, particularly with cumulative sun exposure. This skin peel is specially designed to help to combat the signs of ageing, including age spots and other types of hyperpigmentation. The trichloroacetic acid helps to re-model the dermal layer, encouraging collagen and elastin production to firm the skin and the lactic acid and kojic acid work synergistically to reduce pigmentation.

Eyes and Lips – Enerpeel Eyes and Lips is a combination of TCA and Lactic Acid in lower strengths that has been specially formulated to treat the sensitive areas around the eyes and lips. The whole eye area including the lid can be treated, tightening loose skin and reducing the appearance of smile lines. The mouth area up to the vermillion border can be treated, minimising the appearance of fine lines on the upper lip and marionette lines at the corners of the mouth.

TCA Peel 20% & 25% – A deeper peel than the others, this penetrates both the upper and lower layers of the dermis. Ideal for anyone with superficial discolouration, acne scarring or more noticeable signs of ageing. The procedure, although vigorous, allows for an easily controlled exfoliation that produces visible, long-lasting results.
